Awarded Korea Healthy City Award for 6 Consecutive Years Since 2019... Established as a Leading Healthy City Municipality
Nation's First 'Nowon-type Health Impact Assessment' and Sharing Success Know-how with Other Municipalities to Create a Sustainable Healthy City
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold a policy briefing session on the ‘Nowon-type Healthy City’ for member cities of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership (KHCP).
The district’s continuous efforts to create a healthy city for all residents have been recognized externally with the award of the Korea Healthy City Award for six consecutive years as of September this year, and benchmarking requests from other local governments and organizations continue steadily.
Accordingly, the district has prepared this policy briefing session as a nationwide platform for sharing sustainable healthy city creation and development.
The briefing session will be held online via ZOOM on November 29. The target audience is project managers from 103 member cities of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership. A total of 69 people from 40 basic local governments, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, and Chungbuk, have pre-registered.
The briefing will cover ▲ the current status of promoting the Nowon-type Healthy City based on the Health in All Policies (HiAP) system ▲ the development and application process of the ‘Nowon-type Health Impact Assessment’ ▲ strengthening community capacity and resident participation methods ▲ difficulties and success factors during the promotion process.
After the briefing, specific cases and know-how that will help promote healthy city projects will be shared, focusing on questions received from applicants during pre-registration. The pre-submitted topics include ▲ directions for healthy city projects in 2025 ▲ mid- to long-term plans and specific promotion cases of the Nowon-type Healthy City ▲ cooperation and sharing methods between public health centers and district offices (other departments), and ways to reach agreements ▲ operation methods of advisory groups when promoting health impact assessments ▲ post-management plans for healthy city projects.
The district continues various activities to share Nowon’s healthy city policies and operational experiences by participating as a leading local government in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Customized One-on-One Consulting for Healthy Cities’ program, which is operated for local governments nationwide.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “The nation’s first ‘Nowon-type Health Impact Assessment’ policy is a pioneering approach that places residents’ health at the center of policy, attracting nationwide interest and attention. Through this briefing session, we will actively support more local governments to successfully promote healthy city projects and seek development together as healthy cities.”
