Park Ji-won, Grand Prize in the Legislative Category at the 2024 Korea Policy Awards

‘Amendment to the Kim Industry Promotion and Support Act’ Introduced as a Bill

Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Haenam, Wando, and Jindo in Jeollanam-do, announced on the 26th that the "Amendment to the Act on the Promotion and Support of the Gim Industry," which he sponsored, was selected as the grand prize winner in the legislative category at the "2024 Korea Policy Awards" held at the National Assembly on the 25th.

The "2024 Korea Policy Awards" selects individuals or institutions as recipients for contributions in six categories: legislation, central government, local councils, public institutions, integrity, and ESG management.

Park's award this time was in recognition of his sponsorship of the "Amendment to the Act on the Promotion and Support of the Gim Industry," which includes the establishment of the National Gim Industry Promotion Agency. Park first proposed the Gim Industry Act in 2019 and has since worked to develop the Gim industry as a national foundational industry.

Park emphasized, "Having surpassed 1 trillion won in export value for the first time in history, the Gim industry, known as the semiconductor of the sea and a symbol of K-food, will see expanded national-level research and development and various supports. This will solidify its status as one of the top ten national strategic resources and contribute to the development of the Gim industry and the income increase of farmers and fishermen in Haenam, Wando, and Jindo."
