From December 1, Extended Operation by 6.3 km to Jangjanggun No.1 Jungri and Cheolma-myeon Igok
Comprehensive Measures Reflecting Major Public Institution Stops, Resident Complaints Resolution, and Improvement of Public Transport-Deficient Areas
Busan Gijang-gun has implemented a reorganization of the Gijang-gun bus routes to alleviate the inconvenience of public transportation use for residents, and it will be fully enforced starting December 1.
This reorganization comprehensively reflects key public institutions along residents' living areas, residents' complaints, and improvements in public transportation vulnerable areas.
The stops on Gijang-gun routes 1, 10, and 57 have been significantly expanded with ▲2 relocated stops ▲5 newly established stops ▲10 additional stops. For route 57, the number of trips has increased by one, extending the last bus time on the Wolpyeong line to 8 PM.
In particular, route 1 (bound for Jung-ri), which currently operates up to Jung-ri in Cheolma-myeon, will be extended by 6.3 km to Igok in Cheolma-myeon.
Midong Village, Maji Village, and Igok Village in Cheolma-myeon are representative public transportation vulnerable areas within the region, lacking public transportation connecting to Gijang-eup, causing great inconvenience to residents. This route extension is expected to greatly alleviate residents' inconvenience in using public transportation and improve the transportation underserved areas within the region.
Additionally, as a measure to address the poor working conditions of village bus drivers, working hours and break times have been expanded and adjusted, improving the treatment of essential workers in the area to enable stable operation of the Gijang-gun bus service.
Jung Jong-bok, the county governor, said, “I hope this reorganization of the Gijang-gun bus routes will greatly enhance residents' convenience in using public transportation,” and added, “We will actively identify vulnerable and blind spots in public transportation and gradually expand the villages served by the Gijang-gun bus.”
The Gijang-gun bus service is a project under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ rural transportation model, aimed at guaranteeing the actual mobility rights of residents in public transportation vulnerable areas and providing customized transportation services suited to local conditions. Since its introduction in 2019, it is approaching 450,000 users, and the number of users is expected to increase further with this reorganization.
