The Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) announced on the 26th that it has become the first public institution to receive certification under the 'Greenhouse Gas Reduction Contribution Certification System' implemented by Busan City.
This certification recognizes the achievement of reducing 1,600 tons of greenhouse gases over 30 years through continuous environmental development activities, from the World Peace Forest in 2019 to the Haeundae Arboretum last year. Busan City issues certificates by calculating the impact when companies and public institutions contribute to carbon reduction through the creation of donation forests.
Heo Jong-moon, Head of HUG's Management Infrastructure Innovation Division, said, "This is the result of fulfilling our responsibility as a public institution to create a sustainable environment," adding, "We will continue efforts to realize eco-friendly management and carbon neutrality in cooperation with the local community."
Meanwhile, HUG is continuing practical environmental activities to achieve carbon neutrality, such as implementing RE-100, obtaining ISO14001 certification, and introducing carbon dioxide reduction devices.
