'Wave of Light, A New Tide' Theme... Media Art and Performing Arts Combined in 'LIGHT WAVE'
November 30 'Gyeonggi-Heung Joseon Pop Concert' Featuring Akdan Kwangchil, Soyon Fish, Yegyeol Band, and More
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it will hold the media art show ‘LIGHT WAVE’ for five days from the 29th to December 3rd at the mysterious Mulneomi area of Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park.
Under the theme of ‘Wave of Light, New Wave,’ this event offers the charm of ‘Exciting Gyeonggi Province’ through fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) with a modern sensibility and video. The media art displayed on a large video wall (media wall) measuring 16 meters in length and 3 meters in height features shapes of wind and waves crossing the lake, harmonizing with light and music, and connecting with images of Gyeonggi’s traditional performing arts such as Anseong Namsadangpae, Yangju Byeolsandae, and Gyeonggi Dodanggut Sinawi, expressing the unique lively excitement of Gyeonggi Province.
During the event period, visitors can also enjoy various performances by artists. On the 30th at 5 p.m., the ‘Gyeonggi-Heung Joseon Pop Concert’ featuring fusion gugak band Akdan Gwangchil, Soyon Fish, and Yegyeol Band will be held, sublimating the rhythms of Gyeonggi into exciting light art.
Every evening, there will be an open stage featuring Gyeonggi artists. On the 29th at 6 p.m., there will be a ‘Shining Jazz Night’ (Ernest Music, jazz vocalist Kim Manhee); ▲ December 1st at 3 p.m., an ‘Explosive Heung Band Stage’ (Music Studio We Mu, world music group Keun Geurim); ▲ December 2nd at 3 p.m., a ‘Joyful Performance Show’ (Jaejusangdan, magician Noh Yoonsoo); ▲ December 3rd at 6 p.m., a ‘Classical Harmony in the Waves’ (harmonist Baek Chanyeong, cellist Yeo Myeonghyo). Various genres of performances are prepared. All performances are free and open to the public.
From 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily, visitors can experience interactive media art through the large video wall (media wall). Responding to visitors’ movements, traditional patterns and various appearances of Gyeonggi Province’s mascot ‘Bonggong-i’ appear, allowing visitors to enjoy media art with all their senses in a new way.
