6 Injured in Hamburger Shop Vehicle Ramming... National Forensic Service Confirms "Accelerated Pedal Pressed" Last September, near Mia Station on Seoul Subway Line 4 in Gangbuk-gu, a Genesis vehicle driven by a man in his 70s crashed into a hamburger shop, resulting in one pedestrian's death and four injuries. The National Forensic Service concluded that the driver misoperated the pedal at the time of the accident. Yonhap News

In September, a car driven by a driver in their 70s crashed into a commercial store in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, resulting in 6 casualties. The National Forensic Service (NFS) concluded that the driver had mistakenly pressed the pedal.

On the 26th, the Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul received the NFS report from the previous day, which stated that driver A was pressing the accelerator pedal instead of the brake at the time of the accident. The speed of A's car was found to have reached approximately 87 km/h. The police had previously sent the vehicle's Event Data Recorder (EDR) to the NFS for analysis.

On September 20th at around 10:32 a.m., A was driving a Genesis car and was exiting a side street near Mia Station in Gangbuk-gu onto Dobong-ro. The car crossed a 6-lane main road and crashed into a first-floor hamburger restaurant on the roadside across the street. As a result, an 80-year-old woman walking on the street was hit and transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but she ultimately died. Four others sustained minor injuries, and the driver suffered serious injuries including fractures to the nasal bone and orbit.

The police have booked A on charges of professional negligence causing death and injury under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling, and will continue investigating the circumstances of the accident based on the NFS findings.
