Gwangju Seo-gu, Volunteer Camp 'Performance Sharing Meeting'

Gwangju-si Seo-gu Volunteer Center (Director Im Young-hee) announced on the 26th that it held the 'Volunteer Camp Performance Sharing Meeting' on the 25th at the auditorium of the Work and Family Support Headquarters.

At the sharing meeting, over 200 camp leaders active in 17 neighborhoods shared their achievements and experiences, and through presentations of outstanding cases by each neighborhood, they shared creative and effective volunteer programs.

Nongsung 1-dong presented a new model of intergenerational communication through the program 'Listening to Fairy Tales and Cooking with the Elderly.' This program, which involves reading nostalgic fairy tales and making snacks with elderly residents at senior centers, was evaluated to have greatly contributed to alleviating the loneliness of the elderly and enhancing understanding between generations.

Sam-mu 2-dong's program 'Sharing Gochujang, Fragrant Toktok Air Freshener' attracted attention as an innovative approach where beneficiaries participate as the main agents of volunteer activities. This program showed a twofold effect of improving self-esteem and strengthening community spirit by having beneficiaries, who previously received one-sided support, directly participate in the production process.

Director Im Young-hee said, "The passion and creativity shown by volunteers this year have become the driving force for community development," and added, "We will continue to strive to develop more innovative and effective volunteer programs."

Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Volunteer Center is promoting various resident-participatory volunteer activities such as resource circulation activities, climate crisis overcoming campaigns, and sharing side dishes through volunteer camps in 17 neighborhoods.
