"Considering Whether to Change Jobs"

A story has been shared about a customer at a sashimi restaurant refusing to pay because they were not given a 'service menu' item.

On the 25th, JTBC's 'Incident Room' reported on the case of informant Mr. A, who runs a sashimi restaurant and was refused payment after serving a total of 118,000 won worth of menu items to a family customer on the 23rd.

According to Mr. A, one male customer in the group complained after the meal, saying, "I saw seaweed soup being served to another table. Why didn't our table get any?" In response, a staff member explained, "Seaweed soup was not included in the menu you ordered," and added, "The seaweed soup was given to another customer because they specifically requested if there was anything suitable for a child to eat."

Later, Mr. A personally stepped in and apologized, saying, "As a customer, you might feel upset, so I will pack seaweed soup for the children to eat. I will also bring some drinks." However, the male customer refused and said, "I'm upset, so I won't pay for the food. Don't give seaweed soup to anyone else either!" Due to the male customer's disturbance, Mr. A called the police, and only then did the male customer pay for the meal.

However, the situation did not end there. It is said that the male customer complained of stomach pain immediately after paying. Despite the police being nearby, he said, "Ah, my stomach hurts. I think I need to go to the hospital," and "I feel like I'm going to vomit." Feeling suspicious, Mr. A immediately checked the restaurant's internal CCTV footage. The video showed the male customer whispering to a female customer in his group after seeing the seaweed soup at another table, then showing the number five with his open palm, and the female customer responding by giving a thumbs-up.

Mr. A claimed, "After watching the footage and reviewing the customers' actions, it seemed that showing five with the palm meant 'Let's only pay 50,000 won'." It is known that the male customer later returned to the sashimi restaurant demanding medical expenses, saying, "My stomach hurt, I went to the emergency room, and was diagnosed with enteritis."

Mr. A pointed out, "There were four people in total?a couple and two children?who ate the food, but only the husband got enteritis," and added, "If there was a problem with the food, shouldn't everyone have gone to the hospital?" He also said, "I've been in this business for 15 years, but this has made me feel so discouraged that I'm considering whether I should do something else."

Netizens who heard the news responded with various comments such as, "What kind of tantrum is this at a restaurant?", "What are they doing bringing a child along?", "The owner must be very upset," "Stay strong, owner. Fighting!", and "What's so important about one bowl of seaweed soup?"
