LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it held the '2024 Service Olympics' over approximately three months since last September at various global business sites including Korea, the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and India. A total of about 1,400 participants challenged the preliminaries, with around 250 advancing to the finals.
The Service Olympics is an event where LG Electronics service managers gather by region to showcase their skills in order to improve customer service quality. It began in 2002 as a technical Olympics for domestic service engineers and expanded into a global competition from 2018, marking its 21st edition this year.
Service managers competed in various categories such as washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs, PCs and monitors, small appliances, and appliance care (cleaning services), demonstrating fast and accurate repair and care skills. In areas like customer consultation and customer response, they showcased their ability to handle situations that may occur in actual service sites through role-playing.

A DX solution improvement and utilization idea contest was also held, with various awards given to service managers who presented outstanding ideas. Additionally, a Best Coach Award was newly established to recognize senior service managers who have contributed to nurturing excellent service managers.
During the same period, the North America Service Olympics finals were held for the first time at the headquarters in New Jersey, USA. Participants were offered various events including a tour of the headquarters and New Jersey, as well as a dinner at the Signature Kitchen Suite restaurant.
At the Middle East and Africa Service Olympics finals held last month in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a YouTube live broadcast helped ease the disappointment of service managers who could not attend and conveyed the vivid atmosphere of the event.
