About 30 participants, including members of the Yangju City Forest Fire Prevention and Suppression Team and forestry department staff, took part in the campaign to raise awareness about the risk of spring forest fires and emphasize the importance of forest protection.
Campaign participants distributed wet tissues and forest fire prevention promotional ribbons to hikers visiting Bulgoksan, encouraging compliance with forest fire prevention rules such as prohibiting the possession of fire sources like lighters and matches when entering the mountain, and banning smoking and cooking activities within the forest, while urging participation in the campaign.
Additionally, the city is strengthening patrols of forest-adjacent areas by forest fire watchers and the specialized forest fire prevention and suppression team during the autumn forest fire caution period. It is also operating a forest fire drone surveillance team to eradicate burning-related fires and conducting emergency forest fire duty, making every effort to respond to forest fire prevention.
Furthermore, various promotional activities are being carried out to inform citizens about the risks of forest fires through vehicle flags for forest fire caution, posting forest fire prevention banners, and using electronic display boards.
A Yangju City official stated, "Since forest fires can start from minor carelessness, we ask for citizens' active interest and caution to refrain from cooking or smoking in the forest and to avoid carrying fire sources such as lighters or matches when entering the mountain to prevent forest fires."
