Laying the Foundation for Character Marketing Expanding Globally
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) announced on the 25th that its official characters ‘Haebeomi and Bboobboo’ received the Encouragement Award in the public sector at the ‘2024 Korea Local Government and Public Character Festival Grand Prize Contest.’
Co-hosted by the Korea Culture Content Licensing Association and Daejeon Tourism Organization, this contest selected winners through nationwide online voting and expert judging.
The BPA characters received about 6,000 votes from the public and were highly evaluated in areas such as character storytelling, business promotion achievements, and IP (Intellectual Property) expansion strategies.
This award marks the first achievement for the BPA characters, accomplished within a short period (about 2 years and 4 months) since the character renewal in July 2022.
The award-winning organizations operated promotional booths to directly engage with the public and promote their characters and institutions during the ‘2024 Daejeon Content Fair’ held at the Daejeon Convention Center for three days starting November 22.
BPA plans to diversify the use of its characters and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by sequentially expanding public character exhibitions within the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal and supporting the production of goods for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “Thanks to the support of the public who cherish Haebeomi and Bboobboo, we achieved great results in the contest,” adding, “We will strive to secure diverse fan bases in the global market through expanding various character marketing.”
