Recognized for Leadership Role... Commendation from Minister of Employment and Labor
Seo-gu, Gwangju City, announced on the 25th that it was selected as an 'Excellent Local Government' for fostering social enterprises and received a commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor.
Seo-gu recently received an excellence award at the 2024 Social Enterprise Day ceremony held in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, in recognition of its contributions to the development of the social economy and the promotion of social enterprises.

This evaluation was conducted to discover various excellent cases of fostering social enterprises and to create a regional-based social enterprise ecosystem.
Seo-gu was selected as an excellent local government for its achievements in implementing various support measures for the advancement and growth of social enterprises through initiatives such as the ▲ Visiting Social Economy Counseling Office ▲ Social Economy Local Creator Academy ▲ Financial Support Projects for Social Economy Enterprises ▲ Discovery and Support of the Masilgil Social Economy Activation Model ▲ Social Economy Capacity Building Programs.
In particular, last month, Seo-gu established the ‘Seo-gu Social Economy Sarangbang,’ a social economy hub space, to raise awareness among local residents about the importance of the social economy and to provide a platform that strengthens communication and cooperation among social economy enterprises, contributing to the establishment of a sustainable local economic ecosystem.
Kim I-gang, head of Seo-gu, said, “This commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor is highly meaningful as it recognizes Seo-gu’s leading role in fostering social enterprises,” and added, “We will continue to spare no support so that more social enterprises can contribute to the local community.”
