The report meeting was attended by 10 people, including Governor Seo Tae-won, Gapyeong County Council members Kang Min-suk, Choi Won-jung, Yang Jae-sung, and officials from the (Corporation) Cultural Phenomenon. This meeting confirmed that the first-ever ‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ held this year was successfully concluded with positive evaluations from audiences and local residents, and it was an opportunity to discuss key achievements and directions for improvement.
The festival was held across Gapyeong-eup, centered on four themed stages at Jatgoeul Market, Heungnong Seedling Samgeori, Music Station 1939, and Jaraseom Seodo, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. An analysis of spending per visitor showed that residents spent 26,643 KRW each, while non-residents spent 117,235 KRW, resulting in approximately 400 million KRW in direct economic effects.
At the report meeting, proposals were made to enhance the festival’s promotion and expand the stages, including supporting the merchants’ association to directly participate in festival planning and operation to increase professionalism. Additionally, a vision was presented to establish the ‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ as Gapyeong-gun’s representative cultural festival through harmony with the ‘Jaraseom International Jazz Festival.’
Governor Seo Tae-won emphasized, “This jazz festival is a successful case where local residents, merchants, and external audiences came together through the content of jazz,” adding, “We will continue to develop the festival for regional coexistence and cultural advancement.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Jazz Festival in Gapyeong’ is scheduled to return to audiences from October 17 to 19 next year.
