So far this year, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured orders for a total of 33 vessels (about 6.8 billion USD), including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and ammonia carriers, achieving 70% of its annual target of 9.7 billion USD (13.6 trillion KRW).

The global container ship market is expected to see increased demand for replacing aging vessels due to strengthened environmental regulations. Recently, Clarkson Research, a UK-based shipbuilding and shipping market analysis firm, projected that approximately 53 container ships of 12,000 TEU or larger will be ordered annually from this year through 2027.
