Gwangju City announced on the 25th that it will conduct a 'Workplace Risk Assessment' by December 10th targeting 76 workplaces where employees of the city hall, affiliated organizations, and business offices work.
This year's risk assessment is being promoted to create a safe working environment by identifying and improving hazardous and dangerous factors lurking in the workplaces of city hall and frontline workers exposed to accident risks, in accordance with the Serious Accident Punishment Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
In particular, since last month, safety managers affiliated with Gwangju City have been directly conducting on-site inspections of hazardous and dangerous factors, machinery and equipment, and hazardous materials management within workplaces where employee injuries and illnesses are anticipated, thereby eliminating safety blind spots.
Additionally, for the 12 workplaces classified as high-risk in last year's risk assessment, including the General Construction Headquarters and the Agricultural Technology Center, autonomous safety inspections will be conducted in parallel through safety diagnosis institutions designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, maintaining a thorough disaster prevention inspection system.
Problems revealed by the inspections will be immediately addressed, and measures to reduce risk factors will be prepared to ensure long-term improvement actions are thoroughly implemented and monitored.
Safety Policy Officer Lee Bu-ho stated, “We will conduct thorough inspections to ensure that safe public facilities and city hall workplaces provide a safe working environment for employees,” adding, “We will do our best to create a ‘Safe City Gwangju’ through continuous implementation monitoring activities.”
