A nullification of election was requested for Kim Dohun, a member of the Chungnam Provincial Council, who was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
On the 25th, during the final trial held at the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court, Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jeon Kyungho), the prosecution requested a fine of 2 million won each for Kim Dohun, a member of the People Power Party, and Party member A.
They are accused of putting up a banner on April 5, the early voting day for the 22nd National Assembly election, announcing that Lee Jaegwan, the Democratic Party candidate for the Cheonan-si-eul constituency, had been reported to the authorities.
In his final statement, Kim said, "I didn't realize it would be such a big problem," and pleaded for leniency, promising, "I will make sure this does not happen again."
If an elected public official is confirmed to have violated the Public Official Election Act and receives a fine of 1 million won or more, they lose their position.
