Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 25th that it has created ‘Cheongnyeon Maeul Gaon’ by utilizing vacant stores within Heungguk Shopping Center, and held an opening ceremony for the resident youth on the 23rd.
About 500 people, including Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong, Baek In-suk, Chairperson of Yeosu City Council, city and provincial council members, and local residents, attended the ceremony to celebrate and support the opening of ‘Gaon,’ a youth hub space.

The youth residents of Gaon planned a ‘Christmas Festa’ themed around an early November Christmas to commemorate the opening, welcoming citizens with various events such as a Youth Santa jazz performance, art exhibitions, Santa Market (flea market), and food trucks.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong said, “We will provide more opportunities so that youth and the local community can open a sustainable future together,” adding, “We will attract young people through multifaceted promotion and strive to establish Gaon as a cultural and artistic hub within the region.”
Earlier, the city was selected for the Jeonnam-type Youth Village contest project in June and created the youth village ‘Gaon,’ which means ‘center’ or ‘middle.’
