Congratulatory Messages to Hyundai Motor Decorate Major Daily Newspapers
"Enjoyable Rally, Let's Compete Again Next Year"
A photo featuring Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation, and Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, standing side by side was published in major local Japanese daily newspapers. This was to commend each other's efforts in successfully concluding the global motorsport WRC (World Rally Championship) and to emphasize harmony between the two companies.
On the 25th, a full-page advertisement for Toyota Gazoo Racing appeared in 10 major Japanese media outlets, including Asahi and Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The advertisement conveyed Toyota's congratulations and gratitude to its competitor Hyundai, with whom it had just completed the 2024 WRC races together.
The print advertisement photo shows Chairman Toyoda and Toyota Gazoo Racing team drivers, along with Chairman Chung and Hyundai World Rally Team drivers, standing on either side, smiling brightly. Chairman Toyoda and Chairman Chung are wearing their respective jumpers and uniforms, cheering for their teams. In the center of the advertisement, a Korean phrase reads, "Congratulations sincerely to Chairman Chung Eui-sun and everyone at Hyundai Motor."
Through the advertisement, Toyota stated, "It was a pleasure to compete for the championship until the final round, Rally Japan. We believe motorsport fans also enjoyed the rally. We look forward to another great competition next year."
In this year's WRC season, Toyota and Hyundai shared victories amicably. Toyota won the manufacturers' championship, while Hyundai took the drivers' championship. This is Hyundai's first time winning the drivers' championship, and Toyota achieved its fourth consecutive manufacturers' title.
On the morning of the 24th, when the final Japan rally was underway, Chairman Toyoda met with domestic reporters and said with a smile, "Please write many articles supporting our team. Also, I hope you write many articles about Thierry Neuville of the Hyundai team, who has been crowned the drivers' champion."
