Busan Office of Education Explores Safe and Educational Field Trip Operation Plans

Award Ceremony and Sharing Event for Outstanding Field Trip Cases Held on the 26th

Expected to Enhance the Operational Capacity of Individual Schools' Field Trips

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) will hold the ‘2024 School Year Field Trip Best Practices Awards and Sharing Event’ on the 26th at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Busan Science Experience Center, a branch of the Busan Creative Convergence Education Institute, for about 80 teachers and others.

This event was organized to explore safe and educational field trip operation methods through sharing best practices and models of small-scale and themed field trips.

In October, the Busan Office of Education held a best practices contest to enhance the field trip operation capabilities of individual schools and to discover and spread safe and educational models based on democratic communication between teachers and students.

Comprehensively evaluating educational content, operation procedures, safety measures, and sound management of education office support funds, a total of 12 schools were selected as best practices: 2 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 5 high schools.

The top school, Sasang High School, formed a student preparation committee from the planning stage to encourage active student participation. It also gained attention by conducting a ‘self-directed free theme trip’ linked to students’ areas of interest and career paths.

Geumsa Middle School expanded students’ choices by establishing activity plans by teams and set safety measures for close guidance by accompanying teachers. Especially, post-activities such as UCC presentations and writing reflection essays received high evaluations.

At the event, the 12 schools selected through the contest, including Sasang High School, will receive the Superintendent’s Award, and the top and excellent schools will present their cases. Additionally, there will be presentations on the achievements of the teacher clubs that developed small-scale and themed school trip models, as well as guidance on the direction of field trip operations for the 2025 school year.

The Busan Office of Education plans to upload the best practices and developed models announced on this day to the field trip website ‘Everyone’s Experience Learning’ for use by all schools in the Busan area.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Field trips and training activities are education that can foster students’ creative thinking and community capabilities,” adding, “I hope this event will be an opportunity for both students and teachers to safely and happily enjoy field trips.”
