3262 Households Adjacent to Paldang Lake Water Source and Existing Treatment Area
Expectations for Resident Convenience and Environmental Improvement through Efficient Sewage Management
An area of 3.4㎢ in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do has been newly designated as a 'sewage treatment zone,' and a public sewage pipeline installation project will be implemented.
Yongin City announced on the 25th that the Basic Sewerage Maintenance Plan, which includes adding the Paldangho Reservoir Special Measures Area and adjacent areas of the existing sewage treatment zone as 'sewage treatment zones,' has been approved by the Ministry of Environment.
A 'sewage treatment zone' is an area designated by the Ministry of Environment under the 'Total Water Pollution Load Management System,' where sewage generated from households or commercial areas is discharged through public sewage systems and treated at public sewage treatment facilities. The approved Basic Sewerage Maintenance Plan includes ▲planned population and sewage treatment population ▲adjustment of sewage treatment zones ▲installation of drainage facilities and sewage pipelines ▲and changes to the financial plan.
The newly added areas include 16 sewage treatment zones within the jurisdiction, covering a total of 3,262 households. With this additional inclusion, the city's sewage treatment zones will expand from the existing 122.7㎢ to 126.1㎢ by 2030.
Until now, the Paldangho Reservoir Water Quality Conservation Special Measures Area has faced difficulties for individuals installing sewage treatment facilities during the building permit process due to regulations aimed at water quality preservation.
The city plans to implement a phased public sewage pipeline installation project in the newly included sewage treatment zones. Through this, the city's sewage treatment capacity is expected to improve, leading to enhanced living environments.
