Uijeongbu-si Holds Training to Activate Resident Autonomy Committee Subcommittees

Preparing the 2025 Autonomy Plan with Fun Fun Group Activities

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 25th that it conducted the ‘Committee Activation Operation Training’ for the chairpersons, subcommittee chairpersons, and practical staff of 15 district residents' autonomy committees over two days on the 20th and 22nd.

The training participants shared their experiences and satisfaction with the activities of the 2nd term subcommittees and introduced cases of activation practices. They also discussed plans for implementing the 2025 autonomy plan projects and shared examples from other cities and counties. In particular, they discussed ways to encourage more resident participation in the subcommittees and methods for efficient subcommittee operation by combining online meetings.

Through this meeting, it was felt that there was an active change, such as a quantitative increase in subcommittee meetings compared to the previous year.

One subcommittee chairperson said, “As a resident autonomy committee member, it was a time to shift the previously stagnant mindset,” adding, “By benchmarking good cases, I think we can plan better projects for 2025.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, “By attempting various approaches to activate the residents' autonomy committees, we expect that next year, more abundant autonomy plan implementation projects will be carried out by the hands of local residents.”
