"South Korea, Family Mobilized to Slander Yoon? Mixed with Falsehoods"
Kim Jong-hyuk, Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, criticized the 'Party Member Bulletin Board Controversy' as a malicious framing attack, saying it is an attempt to portray Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, as an ungrateful person.
On the 25th, Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "The controversy over the party member bulletin board mixes basic facts with falsehoods," adding, "It is being portrayed as if Han Dong-hoon and his entire family were mobilized to make vicious slanders against President Yoon Seok-yeol and First Lady Kim Geon-hui."
Earlier, as suspicions grew that numerous posts defaming President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife were uploaded under the names of Han, his wife, and his parents-in-law on the People Power Party's member bulletin board, the party conducted a full-scale investigation. The investigation found that 1,068 posts were made under the names of Han and his family. Among them, 161 posts were under Han Dong-hoon's name, and the remaining 907 were under the names of his family members. Of the content, 12 problematic posts were identified as being under the name of a namesake 'Han Dong-hoon.'
Kim said, "The YouTuber who first raised the suspicion broadcasted with the title 'Han Dong-hoon People Power Party bulletin board comments, shocking remarks like 'Put a dog collar on Kim Geon-hui's neck.'' It was broadcast as if Han himself made such comments," explaining, "But the person who wrote the comments was not Han Dong-hoon. It was someone completely unrelated, yet the atmosphere was driven as if his family members also made similar comments."
Regarding the 907 posts under the names of Han's family members, he said, "The highest level of content was praise such as 'Han Dong-hoon, the politician with the best public spirit,' followed by expressions like 'the dogmatic and uncommunicative Yoon Seok-yeol and the criminal Biok-gun.' The rest were articles or editorials."
He emphasized, "They mixed the dog collar remarks unrelated to Han Dong-hoon and the 900 posts by his family members to completely distort the situation, making it seem as if Han made harsh remarks about the First Lady and that his family all participated."
Regarding Han's refusal to clarify whether his family members were involved in the controversy, Kim said, "Whether the posts were made by family members or by people with the same name as family members, the posts themselves are not problematic. If the posts contained extreme insults or legal issues such as threats of murder, then it should be addressed, but this is just a framing, and Han Dong-hoon has no obligation to clarify. It is wrong to demand him to do so."
