According to Goyang Special City on the 25th, Haengju Fortress offers visitors a unique viewing environment where they can experience both historical significance and beautiful nature simultaneously.
The Haengju Observation Wheel, which has been operating since June this year, consists of two electric vehicles (6-seater and 9-seater) circulating within Haengju Fortress. Equipped with wheelchair spaces, it allows the elderly, disabled, and other mobility-impaired visitors to comfortably reach the top of Haengju Fortress, enjoy views of the Han River, and feel the breath of history.
Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang City, said, “Haengju Fortress, a sacred site of the nation, is an important historical asset of Goyang City. Through the operation of the Haengju Observation Wheel, we hope more visitors can enjoy the view of the Han River from the top of Haengju Fortress and appreciate its historical value.”
The Haengju Observation Wheel will operate until the end of December 2024, and after maintenance and ensuring safety, operations will resume in the first half of 2025.
It operates from Tuesday to Friday, excluding the Haengju Fortress closed day (every Monday), and does not operate on public holidays and weekends to ensure pedestrian safety. Operation may be suspended in case of adverse weather conditions such as rain or typhoons, or when visitor congestion poses safety risks.
The Haengju Observation Wheel prioritizes boarding for the elderly, disabled, and infants (including accompanying guardians). Admission is free for those aged 65 and older, disabled persons, and children under 6 years old who are not yet in school. Other riders are charged 2,000 KRW for a round trip and 1,000 KRW for a one-way trip.
