Expansion of Recruitment Targets from University Students to Unemployed Youth
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) is expanding the opportunity to participate in administrative internships, which was previously limited to university students, to all unemployed youth in the area. This aims to provide various young people in the region with practical career exploration, social contribution, and opportunities to engage in district administration through public institution work experience. The district is recruiting 50 young people to participate in the ‘2025 First Half Youth Administrative Internship’ until the 3rd of next month.

The recruitment fields are divided into ‘General’ and ‘Specialized’ categories. The General category will recruit a total of 20 people to assist with civil complaints and institutional tasks at local community centers and libraries. The Specialized category consists of three sectors: ‘Administration,’ supporting administrative tasks at the district office and related institutions; ‘Welfare,’ supporting socially disadvantaged groups at welfare centers; and ‘Learning Mentor,’ providing customized learning guidance to elementary and middle school students in the district at regional learning hubs. Each sector will select 10 people, totaling 30 recruits.
The applicants must be Yangcheon-gu residents aged 19 to 29 who are either university students or can prove they are unemployed. However, those who have participated within the past year are excluded.
The selected administrative interns will work from January 6 to February 4 next year, five days a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The salary will be based on the ‘2025 Yangcheon-gu Living Wage’ rate, and those who attend all working days will receive approximately 1.51 million KRW for the entire period.
Those wishing to apply can submit their applications online through the district office website from the 25th of this month until December 3. After the deadline on December 3, a first-round computerized lottery will be held at 6:10 p.m. to select 20 candidates for the General category. For the Specialized category, 30 candidates will be selected through a second-round evaluation based on the first-round successful applicants. The final selection results will be announced on December 9 via the district office website.
The district plans to operate special programs separately for all administrative interns, including on-site tours of major local facilities and special lectures reflecting the interests of the youth, to enhance the satisfaction and practical career exploration of the participants.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae stated, “We are expanding the opportunity to experience district administration, which was previously only available to university students, to all unemployed youth who are struggling with job preparation and career choices.” He added, “We will continue to promote effective policies so that young people can participate in district administration in various ways and that their experiences help improve their capabilities.”
