Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex Plant Fire Again... Fully Extinguished in 2 Hours (Comprehensive)

On the 10th, a fire broke out again at the POSCO Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex Plant, where a fire had occurred two weeks earlier. The fire was extinguished within two hours.

At around 11:18 PM on the 24th, a fire occurred at the POSCO Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex Plant in Jecheoldong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk. The fire department dispatched 21 fire trucks and about 50 personnel to the scene, and the fire was extinguished at around 1:13 AM on the 25th, two hours after it started. So far, there have been no reported casualties.

This plant was also the site of an explosion and fire on the 10th, where one employee was injured.

A fire official stated, "We received a report that there was a lot of smoke coming from the Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex Plant, where a fire had occurred recently." One citizen said, "After hearing an explosion sound, flames rose," while another said, "After hearing a 'bang' explosion sound, flames shot up."

The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage once the fire is fully extinguished. The 3 Finex Plant, like the blast furnace, is a plant that produces molten iron, and after restoration work, the 3 Finex Plant was restarted on the afternoon of the 19th.
