"Every Day Eating the Same Food, Wearing the Same Clothes"... A Man Who Lived a 'Life Without Choice' for 15 Years

Listening to Baseball Star Ichiro's Story and Creating a 'Routine'
Maintained for 15 Years, Gaining Attention... "There Are No Particular Drawbacks"

The story of a Japanese man who has been eating the same diet and wearing the same clothes every day for 15 years has gained attention. The man revealed that he was inspired by the lifestyle of the world-renowned baseball player Suzuki Ichiro.

On the 14th (local time), Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Kita Go (38), who was featured on Japan's TBS broadcast.

The reason Kita adopted this lifestyle was his first job 15 years ago. He faced countless moments of decision-making at work, which gradually exhausted him mentally. One day, he heard about Ichiro's lifestyle habits.

Ichiro was famous for maintaining a monk-like daily routine throughout his playing career. He ate the same food every morning, such as curry rice or noodles, and always ate pepperoni pizza right before games. When watching TV, he always wore sunglasses to protect his eyesight.

Ichiro’s routine was known to be designed to simplify trivial daily decisions so he could focus more on training and games. Through this self-management, he maintained his skills and played actively in Major League Baseball (MLB) until the age of 46.

After hearing Ichiro’s story, Kita decided to reduce decision-making moments in his personal life as well. Since then, he has eaten ramen and nuts for breakfast, chicken breast for lunch, and pork with mung bean sprouts for dinner every day. He supplemented the nutritional imbalance by regularly taking supplements.

Not only his food but also his clothing was simplified into a pattern. He wore similar styles of shirts and pants every day, and prepared multiple pairs of identical socks and underwear to rotate. Daily routines such as laundry, shaving, and nail clipping were all done at set times.

It is reported that Kita set these life rules for himself and has maintained them for 15 years. When this fact was revealed on the broadcast, it attracted much attention on online communities and social networking services (SNS).

Meanwhile, according to a study, people make up to 35,000 decisions every day. Kita said about his lifestyle, “There are no particular drawbacks.”
