Gumi's Leading Private Diplomat Enhances Global Capabilities of the 'Gumi International Friendship Association'

Internationalization Capacity Building Training for 180 Members

Special Lecture by Travel Writer Lee Jong-won, Invited for 'Global Tourism City'

The Gumi International Friendship Association held the '2024 Gumi International Friendship Association Internationalization Capacity Building Training' on the 22nd at the Hotel Geumosan Convention Center for about 180 members.

This training was organized to cultivate a global mindset as private diplomats representing Gumi City and to explore ways to promote the charm of Gumi.

The training featured travel writer Lee Jong-won as a guest speaker, who presented on the theme of 'The Charm of Gumi and Global Tourist City.' Members rediscovered Gumi's hidden tourist resources and the city's attractions, and took time to discuss and deepen their understanding of the potential for growth as a global tourist destination as well as the economic and cultural effects on the region.

Jo Dong-hyun, president of the Gumi International Friendship Association, emphasized, "The role of members is important in promoting Gumi's diverse charms to the world and serving as a global bridge representing the region," adding, "Let us work together so that Gumi City can leap forward as a global city."

Mayor Kim Jang-ho encouraged, "The dedicated activities of the members have enhanced Gumi City's image and led international exchanges at the private level," and said, "Please continue to strive so that Gumi City can grow into a global international city."

Since its founding in March 2007, the Gumi International Friendship Association has been actively engaged as private diplomats. This year, it conducted a 'One-Day Cultural Tour' for 20 native English-speaking instructors in the area to promote local attractions and culture and support their settlement, and contributed to enhancing harmony and cultural exchange with resident foreigners by participating in the 19th Foreign Resident Cultural Festival.
