Served as Budget Management Director in First Term
"Aggressive Cost Cutter" Introduced
Cooperates with Government Efficiency Department... Structural Reform
President-elect of the United States Donald Trump has reappointed Russell Vought (48), former OMB Director, as the Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
In a statement on the day, Trump said, "Vought performed this role excellently during my first term. Every time a new regulation was introduced, we cut four regulations, which was a great success."
Vought served as OMB Director from January 2019 to January 2021, during the latter part of Trump's first administration.
Trump introduced Vought as "an aggressive cost-cutter and deregulation expert who helps implement the America First agenda across all government agencies."
He also emphasized that Vought is an expert who knows exactly how to dismantle the 'Deep State,' referring to entrenched interests within the federal government, and end the weaponized government.
Trump added, "We will restore fiscal soundness and bring a new level of prosperity and ingenuity to the American people," and said, "Russ (Russell's nickname), I look forward to working together again."
In particular, the OMB is expected to work closely with the Department of Government Efficiency, which will be led by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who emerged as a key close aide to Trump during this election process.
On the 13th, Trump nominated Musk as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency, stating, "The Department of Government Efficiency will work with the White House and OMB to push for large-scale structural reforms."
