The Democratic Party of Korea once again released a recording related to the so-called 'political broker' Myung Tae-gyun, who is suspected of interfering in the nomination process involving President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife. The recording contained content in which Myung boasted about his influence over investigative agencies such as the prosecution and the police.

On the 22nd, the Democratic Party disclosed five audio files of conversations between Myung, Kang Hye-kyung, who was the accounting manager for former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-sun, and a third party acquaintance. The conversations took place from June 2022 to December of last year.

According to the transcript, Myung said that his acquaintance got into trouble and that he "went to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office and met the chief prosecutor there." He added, "The chief prosecutor of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office has connections with Han Dong-hoon from long ago, so he resolved everything in one go." This statement is interpreted as Myung meeting the chief prosecutor of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, who has ties with Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, and resolving his acquaintance's difficulties.

Myung said, "From the Commissioner of the National Police Agency to the prosecution, when Kim Young-sun was arrested, do you know who made them swear loyalty?" He continued, "I brought them over, and Kim Young-sun shouted 'I swear loyalty, I will be loyal' three times each." He also emphasized, "No matter how much the Election Commission passes the case, the police erase everything," and added, "I did it. It hasn't even been a month."

Myung also spoke about a conversation with Mrs. Kim Geon-hee. He said, "Do you know that Kim Young-sun was badmouthing me? So the First Lady said, 'Oh my, the teacher was badmouthing you, so would Kim Young-sun get a nomination?'" Here, the First Lady appears to refer to Mrs. Kim. Myung also seemed to assert dominance in his relationship with the former lawmaker, saying, "That woman (former lawmaker Kim) dies if she opens her mouth, her very nature. There is no one who would vote for Kim Young-sun. There is no one in the party who would do that anymore."
