On the 26th, 2024 Public-Private Governance Project 'Carbon Neutral RUN! Neighborhood Resident Specialized Education' Performance Sharing Meeting Held
Various Pre-Event Activities and Open Lectures Including Vegan Tasting and Making Placards from Recycled Paper
Invited Lecture by Environmental Activist Julian Quintart, 'Man Who Protects the Earth'
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) and residents will hold a performance sharing meeting for the public-private cooperative project "Carbon Neutral 2050 RUN! Neighborhood-Specific Resident Education" on the 26th.
"Carbon Neutral 2050 RUN! Neighborhood-Specific Resident Education" is a 2024 public-private cooperation task. The district conducted on-site education targeting community leaders such as tongjang (neighborhood heads) and resident autonomy committee members to teach practical carbon neutrality measures closely related to daily life near residents.
This performance sharing meeting will report on the project progress and educational achievements over the past year. The public and private sectors will reaffirm their commitment to practicing carbon neutrality and learn about practical carbon neutrality in daily life through a special lecture by a guest speaker.
Pre-events include ▲Making personalized carbon neutrality pledge placards ▲Welcome table: vegan food tasting ▲Photo zone, along with various experiential activities, attractions, and entertainment.
First, the "Making Personalized Carbon Neutrality Pledge Placards" activity involves creating unique placards with carbon neutrality pledge phrases by recycling waste paper instead of producing new placards for the event.
Also, a vegan welcome table will be set up to learn about "vegetarianism," one of the practical methods for carbon neutrality.
The main event will proceed with ▲Group carbon neutrality pledge using placards ▲Report on cooperative task achievements ▲Resident special lecture.
In particular, this performance sharing meeting invites Julian Quintart, a Belgian-born broadcaster and environmental activist who leads by example in eco-friendly practices, to share practical methods for carbon neutrality in daily life and to improve individual awareness of practicing carbon neutrality.
Any resident interested in carbon neutrality can participate, and those wishing to attend the lecture can apply on-site.
"Carbon Neutral 2050 RUN! Neighborhood-Specific Resident Education" started on June 25 with five neighborhoods and has conducted two sessions per neighborhood, totaling 40 sessions as of November.
The district educated residents on practical daily actions to raise environmental sensitivity and promote the concept of carbon neutrality in the era of climate crisis, including ▲Reducing disposable products ▲Reducing standby power ▲Boiling tap water before drinking.
District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “The climate crisis is difficult to overcome by efforts from either the public or private sector alone. This performance sharing meeting is a meaningful occasion for residents and administration to reaffirm Gwanak-gu’s commitment to practicing carbon neutrality. We will continue to devote all efforts to implementing carbon neutrality policies so that we can overcome the climate crisis and enable residents to live happy lives.”
