Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) has set a record as the first local government in the country to win the 'Korea Communication Awards' for 12 consecutive years. On the 22nd, Goyang Special City announced that its municipal newsletter, 'Goyang News,' received the Chairman Award of the National Assembly's Administrative Safety Committee at the '2024 Korea Communication Awards' ceremony held at the Korea Press Center on the 21st.
Now in its 34th year, the Korea Communication Awards, hosted by the Korea Association of Public Relations Officers, is the most prestigious award in the country that selects outstanding communication materials published by public institutions, public and private enterprises, and organizations.
Goyang City has submitted its municipal newsletter 'Goyang News' for 12 consecutive years, receiving high praise from judges every year.
With its original planning and continuous pursuit of change, 'Goyang News' communicates with citizens through reader-centered content composition and various participation events. As a result, subscription demand has been steadily increasing, and this year, the number of copies issued has doubled compared to the previous year.
Additionally, the mobile version of 'Goyang News,' called 'Goyang One Pick,' offers municipal news in the form of a stylishly designed webzine and e-book, including rich visual content, and is regarded as opening a new horizon for digital magazines.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, "The fact that 'Goyang News' has won for 12 consecutive years is the result of continuous efforts for two-way communication with citizens," and added, "We will continue to discover high-quality content from the perspective of citizens and readers to enhance satisfaction."
Meanwhile, the monthly published 'Goyang News' can be subscribed to for free in booklet and e-book formats through the mobile 'Goyang One Pick' website.
