Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju, has been appointed as the spokesperson for the Korea Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads. His term will last until June 30, 2026.
On the 22nd, Mayor Im stated, "I will strive to promote the development of 228 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, expand local autonomy, address common local issues, and represent regional opinions," adding, "I will join forces with the jointly appointed executive members of the co-chairmanship to realize the true value of local self-government."
Meanwhile, the Korea Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads includes 228 cities, counties, and districts as members nationwide. Jo Jae-gu, Mayor of Nam-gu, Daegu, serves as the representative chairman, and Seo Dong-wook, Mayor of Nam-gu, Ulsan, serves as the standing vice chairman. The association holds one general meeting and six co-chairmanship meetings annually.
