Catholic University Ranks 3rd in South Korea in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in ARWU World University Rankings

Ranked 5th in Clinical Medicine and 8th in Bio in Korea

Catholic University ranked 3rd domestically and between 100th and 150th globally in the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences field in the '2024 ARWU Subject Rankings' announced by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.


It also placed 5th domestically in the fields of ▲Clinical Medicine ▲Medical Technology ▲Dentistry and Oral Sciences ▲Human Biology, and ranked 8th domestically in the ▲Biomedical Engineering field.


The ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities) Subject Rankings is considered one of the three major global university rankings alongside QS and THE. The ARWU subject rankings divide five major academic areas?▲Natural Sciences ▲Engineering ▲Life Sciences ▲Medicine ▲Social Sciences?into 55 detailed fields, and evaluate universities based on nine indicators including ▲number of highly cited researchers ▲number of papers published in top journals ▲research quality ▲research impact (citations) ▲proportion of internationally co-authored papers, among others. This year’s evaluation covered 5,000 universities from 96 countries, ranking over 1,900 universities across 55 academic fields.


Catholic University Ranks 3rd in South Korea in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in ARWU World University Rankings Provided by Catholic University.

Catholic University, aiming to be a global leader in life-centered education and research, showed strong performance in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. In this year’s ARWU global university rankings, it advanced to 3rd place domestically in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, ranking between 100th and 150th globally, following Sungkyunkwan University (1st) and Seoul National University (2nd). It also ranked joint 5th domestically in ▲Clinical Medicine ▲Medical Technology ▲Dentistry and Oral Sciences ▲Human Biology, and 8th domestically in ▲Biomedical Engineering.


Professor Jo Yong-yeon, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Catholic University, stated, "Since its establishment in 2011, the College of Pharmacy at Catholic University has actively invested in research funding and cutting-edge equipment, conducting diverse international research from multiple angles, while also focusing on nurturing global-level talent. Catholic University boasts the largest medical network in Korea with eight affiliated hospitals, and we will lead synergy creation through convergence with advanced general hospitals, as well as research and new drug development, to grow into a world-class biomedical science hub."
