KOSPI Recovers Above 2500 on Net Buying by Foreigners and Institutions

The KOSPI recovered the 2500 level as foreigners and institutions simultaneously engaged in net buying, driving the index higher.

As of 9:59 a.m. on the 22nd, the KOSPI stood at 2506.12, up 25.49 points (1.03%) compared to the previous trading day.

By investor type, foreigners and institutions net bought 90.3 billion KRW and 70.4 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net sold 176.5 billion KRW.

By sector, machinery rose 3.66%, and insurance also jumped 2.11%. Additionally, chemicals, precision medical instruments, telecommunications, construction, electrical and electronics, manufacturing, textiles and apparel, and finance all increased by more than 1%. On the other hand, steel and metals, and transportation and warehousing sectors saw slight declines.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 56,509 KRW, up 100 KRW (0.18%) from the previous day. SK Hynix surged 3.14%, while LG Energy Solution, KB Financial Group, Shinhan Financial Group, POSCO Holdings, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Life Insurance all rose more than 1%. Conversely, Hyundai Mobis fell 0.39%.

The KOSDAQ recorded 687.90, up 7.23 points (1.06%) from the previous trading day.

By investor type, institutions net bought 25.1 billion KRW. In contrast, individuals and foreigners net sold 28.3 billion KRW and 1.9 billion KRW respectively.

By sector, metals and machinery equipment rose more than 2%. Chemicals, general electrical and electronics, publishing and reproduction, transportation equipment parts, manufacturing, and precision medical devices all increased by 1%. Meanwhile, other services declined 1.83%.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen traded at 326,500 KRW, down 20,000 KRW (5.77%) from the previous day. Samchundang Pharmaceutical also fell 1.24%. On the other hand, EcoPro BM rose 3.55%, and HLB, Enchem, Rainbow Robotics, and Celltrion Pharm all increased more than 2%. Additionally, EcoPro, Classys, and Lino Industrial also rose by 1%.
