Participation of Middle School Team 8, Providing Career Exploration in the Drone Field
Busan Northern Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Beom-gyu) will hold the '2024 Northern Youth Drone Soccer Tournament' at 9 a.m. on the 23rd at Busan Aviation High School, with 48 participants from 8 teams of local middle schools.
This tournament is the first student drone soccer competition in the Busan area, organized to increase students' interest in new technologies and provide opportunities to explore careers in the drone field.
The Northern Office of Education recruited participating teams last September, with 8 teams from 7 schools, including Hwamyung Middle School, applying to participate.
The participating students learned the basic principles of drones, control methods, and drone soccer game rules from professional instructors affiliated with the Korea Drone Soccer Association last month. The Office of Education supported the teams with drone soccer balls, batteries, and provided customized practice support for each team.
The tournament will proceed with team league matches in the morning, followed by semifinals and finals in the afternoon. The students will showcase their honed skills and compete in good spirit to lift the championship trophy of the first tournament.
After analyzing the results of this tournament, the Office of Education plans to expand participation to include elementary schools starting next year.
Kim Beom-gyu, Superintendent of the Northern Office of Education, said, "This tournament will be a great opportunity for students to directly experience drone technology applied in sports and nurture bigger dreams. The Office of Education will strive to operate various educational programs to develop students' potential and future capabilities."
