Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, will participate as the No. 1 representative Santa of the ‘18th 2024 Green Umbrella Santa Expedition Team’ representing Santas in the Busan area.

Now in its 18th year, the ‘Santa Expedition Team’ is a sharing campaign jointly conducted by Green Umbrella and the Kookje Newspaper to promote a culture of donation and the joy of sharing.

The ‘Santa Expedition Team’ is open to participation by anyone, including citizens and businesses, and the collected donations are used to support Christmas gifts, heating costs, educational expenses, and cultural experience fees tailored to the needs of low-income children in the Busan area.

On December 18, the recruited Santas from the Busan area will gather for the 'Santa Expedition Team Finale Event' to wrap gifts for the children.

The ‘Santa Expedition Team Finale Event,’ held at ‘Grand Moment,’ will involve Santas (individual and corporate sponsors) coming together for gift wrapping and the presentation of appreciation plaques.

Comedian Lee Hong-ryul and the 2024 Miss Korea winners (Jin, Sun, and Mi) will participate as ambassadors to deliver messages of encouragement to the children.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “I was heartbroken to hear that some children learn to give up from a young age due to economic difficulties. I will continue to work harder so that every child in Busan can be happy without exception and can focus solely on nurturing their dreams.” He added, “I ask for the citizens’ great interest in the ‘Santa Expedition Team’ so that ‘Busan, a happy city we grow together,’ can be created.”
