A woman in China assaulted an employee who pointed out her son's misbehavior.
The Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) recently reported on the 12th about a customer's disturbance incident that occurred at a store in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. According to the report, woman A went shopping with her two sons that day. During the visit, A's son secretly took a few sips of a drink ordered by another customer at a milk tea shop by grabbing it from the counter.
Employee B scolded the child upon seeing this, but A shouted back, "Who told you to put it there?" When the angry B questioned, "Is it okay for your son to steal and drink milk tea?" A suddenly rushed at B and kicked her. Then she grabbed B's hair, dragged her outside the store, pushed her to the ground, and violently assaulted her.
Startled by the sudden situation, bystanders tried to stop A and criticized her actions. After stopping the assault, A tried to leave the scene holding her two sons' hands but was immediately caught by a security guard. A shouted, "Let go of my hands," and bit the guard, causing a disturbance. Eventually, the security guard had to hit A in the face to stop her behavior. B, who was assaulted, reported the incident to the police and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The police are currently investigating the case.
A video reportedly filmed by a bystander at the scene shows A taking a knife out of her bag and threatening people nearby. This video rapidly spread on social networking services (SNS) within China, sparking controversy. Local netizens who saw the incident reacted with comments such as "There are really many crazy people," "I worry the employee must have been deeply shocked," and "Please don't become shameful parents."
Incidents of customers causing disturbances in stores have also occurred in China recently. In September, a woman visiting a convenience store in Wuhan, Hubei Province, threw items from the display shelves onto the floor recklessly. Employees and customers watched her behavior in disbelief, and she was eventually arrested by the police who arrived on the scene. Earlier in March, in Guizhou Province in the southwest, a woman who appeared to be intoxicated carried out a bizarre rampage by smashing a store.
