LG Chem Announces Executive Appointments for 2025... Kim Dongchun and Jang Giryong Promoted to Vice Presidents

On the 21st, LG Chem announced that it has conducted executive promotions for 2025, including 2 vice presidents, 4 executive directors, and 7 newly appointed managing directors, totaling 13 executives, through a board resolution.


This personnel reshuffle was carried out with a focus on "accelerating the cultivation of three major new growth engines" and "strengthening business capabilities." Accordingly, talents who contributed to the growth of the three major new growth engine businesses despite challenging business environments, as well as those who enhanced the core competitiveness of the business in areas such as research and development (R&D), marketing, production, and quality, were selected.


Regarding this personnel reshuffle, LG Chem stated, "Based on changes in the business environment, we clarified the R&R (roles and responsibilities) of each organization and optimized organizational operations, while placing emphasis on accelerating future preparations centered on the three major new growth engines."

Key promotions include Executive Director Kim Dongchun, who is responsible for the electronic materials business such as OLED materials and semiconductor materials, and Executive Director Jang Giryong, who serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO), both promoted to vice president.


Vice President Kim Dongchun is an expert with many years of experience in new business development and business operations in the electronic materials field. He has held positions such as head of the semiconductor materials business and head of the high-performance materials division. Since his appointment as head of the electronic materials division in December 2022, he has contributed to strengthening customer partnerships and achieving results in OLED materials, semiconductor materials, and e-mobility materials businesses. Recognized for his expertise and achievements in the electronic materials business, he was promoted to vice president and appointed head of the Advanced Materials Business Headquarters in 2025.


Vice President Jang Giryong is an HR strategy expert with a master's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Minnesota, USA, and has extensive experience across the holding company and affiliates such as LG Corp., LG Electronics, and LG Household & Health Care. Since his appointment as LG Chem’s CHO in December 2023, he has contributed to strengthening business competitiveness through the establishment and execution of HR strategies for business portfolio advancement.


Executive Director Kim Hogun is a procurement expert with comprehensive experience in the company’s purchasing organization. He enhanced procurement efficiency through cost innovation and the establishment of global procurement standard processes. Recognized for supporting business capability enhancement, including securing competitiveness for new investments in North America as head of the Americas BS Group since December 2022, he was promoted to executive director.


Executive Director Kim Noma led research and development of major petrochemical products such as synthetic rubber, acrylic, and superabsorbent polymers (SAP). Since his appointment as head of the Basic Technology Research Institute under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in December 2022, he has produced results accelerating new growth engines, including the development of eco-friendly elemental technologies, and was promoted to executive director.


Executive Director Park Gisoon is a production and process expert who has served as head of the Daesan petrochemical plant production group and the Engineering Materials Production Center. Since his appointment as head of the production group at the Yeosu petrochemical plant in December 2023, he has been recognized for establishing a sustainable manufacturing environment and advancing environmental safety levels, leading to his promotion to executive director.


Executive Director Lee Jiwoong has been in charge of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) since December 2018, driving inorganic growth in new growth engine areas such as sustainability, battery materials, and new drugs. He was promoted to executive director in recognition of his achievements in advancing the business portfolio and strengthening business competitiveness.
