'GangwonTV' and 'Teukbyeol-iTV' Strategically Operated in Entertainment and Culture
Strengthening Cooperation Among Cities, Counties, and Related Organizations Through the 'Gangwon Itda' Project
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 21st that it won the YouTube Grand Prize in the metropolitan local government category at the ‘10th 2024 Social Network Service (SNS) of the Year’ awards ceremony hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association. This achievement marks the third consecutive year of winning, following the YouTube Grand Prize in 2022 and the Instagram Excellence Award in 2023, highlighting the significance of Gangwon Province’s active use of new media and strengthened communication through social network services (SNS).

Currently, Gangwon Province strategically operates two separate YouTube channels, ‘Gangwon-i TV’ and ‘Teukbyeol-i TV,’ providing customized content. ‘Gangwon-i TV’ features entertainment-style content directly experienced by Gangwon Provincial Office employees, delivering fun along with local tourism information, serving as the entertainment headquarters. ‘Teukbyeol-i TV’ introduces key provincial government news within 1-2 minutes and promotes policies and seasonal resident safety knowledge in a quiz show format, fulfilling the role of the educational headquarters.
Additionally, to create promotional synergy, Gangwon Province established the ‘Gangwon Itda’ project for the first time this year to strengthen the cooperation system among cities, counties, and related organizations. This project is a win-win cooperation model where each institution jointly discovers promotional themes and produces content, introducing popular local attractions such as the Donghae Mureungje Festival, Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden, and Taebaeksan Snow Flower Festival, thereby more thoroughly showcasing the charm of Gangwon.

Going forward, Gangwon Province plans to produce joint promotional content by grouping adjacent cities and counties by region and further strengthen cooperative promotion among them to encourage visitors to Gangwon to take interest not only in the city or county they visit but also in neighboring areas. Through this, it aims to lead tourism and regional economic revitalization.
Moreover, the province held a ‘Character Popularity Contest’ on its official YouTube and social network services (SNS) to raise awareness of city and county characters, and successfully conducted a seafood consumption promotion campaign in collaboration with local social creators. Recently, additional marketing activities have been carried out by leveraging Gangwon FC’s achievements through the sale of commemorative goods and local specialties within the province.
Governor Kim Jin-tae said, “Gangwon Provincial Office employees have been working hard to create YouTube content to communicate more closely and enjoyably with Gangwon residents, and I am pleased to receive such positive recognition this time.” He added, “Gangwon Province plans to further strengthen cooperation with cities, counties, and related organizations to significantly enhance promotional effects.” He continued, “We will continue to richly showcase Gangwon’s charm through differentiated content.”
