The center conducted an 80-hour training course, a first written exam, and a second practical exam from September 3 to November 13, and 14 candidates passed the final evaluation.
The natural environment interpreter training course consisted of 29 lectures over 80 hours, covering basic competencies for ecological environment education such as introduction to ecology, understanding of biological resources, interpretation techniques and demonstration practice, safety management and first aid to prepare for accidents in educational settings.
The 14 who passed the final exam will receive natural environment interpreter ID cards issued by the Ministry of Environment.
A city official stated, "Training citizen leaders who will convey the importance of environmental conservation and the necessity of citizen action in the era of climate crisis is essential to respond to the climate crisis," adding, "We will strive to strengthen citizens' environmental capabilities through the Environment Education Center."
Meanwhile, at a time when climate action based on specialized knowledge is required, the city is training citizens as environmental education leaders and promoting lifecycle environmental education according to environmental policies in cooperation with them.
The Goyang Ecological Environment Education Center, designated by the Ministry of Environment as a natural environment interpreter training institution, has produced 326 interpreters to date this year. They are active as environmental activists and education instructors at two local environmental education centers (Goyang Ecological Education Center, Hosu Nature Learning Center) and throughout Goyang City.
