From the 25th, Badminton Prospects from 13 Countries Worldwide Gather in Miryang
The '2024 Woncheon Yonex Miryang Korea Junior International Badminton Championships,' the nation's top international junior badminton tournament, will be held for seven days from the 25th of this month to the 1st of next month at the Miryang Badminton Stadium in Gyeongnam.
The 2024 Woncheon Yonex Miryang Korea Junior International Badminton Championships is the best badminton tournament in Korea approved by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). A total of about 1,360 officials and players from 13 countries, including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, India, Canada, and the United States, will participate to compete in their skills.
The tournament will be held in four age categories (under 19, under 17, under 15, under 13) and five events (men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles), following a 21-point, best-of-three games tournament format. The main matches will take place from the 25th to the 29th, with the quarterfinals and semifinals on the 30th, and the grand finals scheduled for December 1st.
Mayor Ahn Byung-gu said, "I sincerely welcome all domestic and international badminton families coming to Miryang, and I am very proud that we can host this international tournament for the young talents leading the future of world badminton in Miryang." He added, "I hope this tournament becomes a festival where players from various countries can fully demonstrate their honed skills and foster friendship through badminton."
He continued, "We will actively support badminton young talents in various ways so that they can grow into the world's best players."
Meanwhile, Miryang City plans to further solidify its image as the 'Badminton Mecca City Miryang' through the successful hosting and operation of this international badminton tournament, while also promoting Miryang City and revitalizing the local economy with various positive effects.
