Yangju-si, 'Cultural Autonomy Vision Establishment Public-Private One Team Forum' 2nd Session of Empathy and Sharing Successfully Concluded

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 21st that it successfully held the 2nd session of empathy and sharing for the ‘Public-Private One Team Forum for Establishing a Cultural Autonomy Vision’ on the 20th in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.

The ‘Public-Private One Team Forum for Establishing a Cultural Autonomy Vision’ was organized as a place to form a public consensus reflecting citizens’ voices and to derive a cultural autonomy vision for establishing the ‘Basic Plan for Cultural Autonomy.’


The 1st sharing session held on the 14th at Seojeong University in the jurisdiction proceeded in the order of △a lecture on regional cultural policy by Noh Young-soon, head of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute △sharing the process of establishing the Yangju City Basic Plan for Cultural Autonomy and discovered tasks △expert topic presentations △vision derivation group workshop for establishing a cultural vision.


The 2nd event was held with about 90 participants including related institutions, organizations, and activists under the theme of ‘Sharing Space.’ To establish Yangju’s cultural identity and seek practical cultural tourism policies, they visited Chuncheon City to benchmark excellent cases.


Participants experienced cultural sites where citizens are the main agents by touring citizen cultural spaces such as Life Workshop and Everyone’s Salon, along with a case lecture by Kang Seung-jin, director of the Chuncheon Cultural Foundation.


The ‘3rd Forum’ is scheduled to be held on the 27th at the Engineering Building of Seojeong University under the theme of ‘Coexistence Space.’ Following the 1st session, a vision derivation group workshop will be conducted, and policies proposed directly by citizens will be presented along with delivering a cultural vision reflecting citizens’ voices.


Anyone from Yangju City can participate, and pre-registration is being accepted through Naver Form.


A Yangju City official said, “Since this forum event is a place to listen to citizens’ voices and share the city’s cultural tourism policies, we will strive to make it a space for empathy, sharing, and coexistence,” and added, “We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens.”


Meanwhile, Yangju City aims to share policy tasks discovered through the forum from the process of establishing the ‘Yangju City Basic Plan for Cultural Autonomy,’ allowing experts and citizens to participate, and to establish a cultural autonomy vision together between the public and private sectors with direct proposals from citizens.
