"A Meaningful Donation from a Basic Livelihood Security Recipient Grandmother: 'Please Use It for Neighbors in Greater Need'"

Donation from Grandmothers Jeong In-nyeo and Lee Bok-rye in Sangok 2-dong, Uijeongbu-si

The meaningful donation from grandmothers receiving basic living subsidies, who are not financially well-off, is giving a warm impression to the local community.

On the 21st, the Shingok 2-dong Community Service Center in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province (Director Kim Hong-il) announced that on the 20th, resident Jeong In-nyeo (81) donated 1 million won in cash, and Lee Bok-rye (73) donated 300,000 won in cash along with hand-made scrubbers.

The two grandmothers, living alone as basic living subsidy recipients, delivered the money they had saved little by little by economizing their living expenses to help neighbors who are in more difficult situations than themselves to the community center.

In particular, Lee Bok-rye also delivered a handwritten letter expressing her gratitude to the Shingok 2-dong staff, adding warmth to the occasion.

The grandmothers' donation on this day conveys love and hope to the local community, as it was made with sincere hearts thinking of their neighbors despite economic difficulties.

The cash and scrubbers donated by the two grandmothers will be used with care for the underprivileged in Shingok 2-dong as part of Uijeongbu City's city-wide sharing campaign, "100 Days of Love Relay Baton Passing."

Jeong In-nyeo said, "It may be a small amount, but I hope it can be of some help to neighbors who are having a harder time."

Lee Bok-rye said, "I am grateful that the staff always work hard for the residents. I want to help neighbors who are more in need as much as I have received help."

Director Kim Hong-il said, "I deeply thank the grandmothers for practicing sharing despite their difficult circumstances," and added, "I hope their warm hearts will have a positive influence on the local community."
