Pocheon City, aiming to become a 'Humanities City Growing with Books,' has introduced reading management and operates various reading-related projects such as workplace reading clubs, humanities reading leave systems, humanities lectures, and book pairing programs.
This literary tour was organized as part of the reading management and reading culture program to enhance public officials' motivation for reading and to cultivate their humanities literacy.
The public officials visited the 'Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum' to watch videos and view exhibits about the poet's life and poetic world. They also toured the poet's hill, the site of Yun Dong-ju's boarding house, the site of Lee Sang's house, and the Jongno-gu Park No-su Art Museum under the guidance of an alleyway tour guide.
Next, at a book caf?, they spent time transcribing Yun Dong-ju's representative works such as "Prologue" and "Counting the Stars at Night," experiencing the poet's emotions.
The public officials said, "We had a meaningful time experiencing not only Yun Dong-ju's works and life but also various cultural spaces in Seochon."
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "We will continue to promote various reading culture programs so that public officials can gain knowledge and inspiration through reading and apply them to their work."
