Cheonan City Purchases 3,149 Tons of Public Reserve Rice

Cheonan City Purchases 3,149 Tons of Public Reserve Rice

Cheonan City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 21st that it will purchase 3,149 tons of public stockpiled rice and market-isolated rice by the 26th.

The city decided to purchase the desired quantity from farmers to compensate for losses suffered by farms due to frequent rain and high temperatures in September, which caused damage from pests and diseases.

The varieties to be purchased are Chindeul, Samgwang, and Baromi2 (powdered rice).

The purchase price will be determined by converting the nationwide average rice price during the three-month harvest period from October to December to the price per 40kg bag. For the management stability of farmers, an interim payment of 40,000 KRW per bag will be provided immediately after purchase, and the final settlement will be paid after the government purchase price is confirmed.

Park Sangdon, Mayor of Cheonan, said, "I deeply appreciate the hard work of farmers who have not lost hope and have worked tirelessly in agriculture despite the difficult situation caused by falling rice prices," and added, "Through the purchase of market-isolated rice, we will ensure that rice prices for rice-growing farms are maintained."
