"Please Delete Deepfake Pornography"... Digital Sex Crime Complaints Up 1.7 Times Year-on-Year

According to the analysis, the average monthly number of digital sex crime complaints received this year was 50, which is 1.7 times higher than last year (30 cases). In particular, the complaints received in August this year (213 cases) increased 6.1 times (178 cases) compared to the same month last year (35 cases).

Major complaints included reports of deepfake sex crimes and demands for strengthened responses, requests for education, and improvements in educational materials.

Regarding sex crime reports, complaints urging investigation and removal were submitted. One complainant said, "When searching for certain keywords on the internet, search results presumed to be obscene videos appear," and requested, "Please investigate deepfake and other obscene videos."

There were also demands for swift punishment. One complainant stated, "An article reported that a sexual exploitation incident occurred in a certain region recently," and urged, "I call on the education office to respond promptly to expel the offending student and protect the victim student."

An ACRC official said, "We have issued a 'complaint advisory' regarding digital sex crimes and suggested that related agencies take measures such as crackdowns, strengthening punishments, and establishing a victim protection system."
