Securing Budget for Skywalk Project
Selected for Gyeonggi-do Cultural Tourism Resource Development in 2025
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 21st that the "Gondola Skywalk Installation" project has been selected for the 2025 Gyeonggi-do Tourist Attractions and Cultural Tourism Resource Development Project. Accordingly, the city has secured 260 million KRW for design costs out of the total project budget of 3.89 billion KRW.
The Gondola Skywalk is planned to be installed on the upper walkway connecting Imjingak Peace Gondola and Camp Greaves, with a length of 268 meters and a width of 3 meters.
Currently, this section is a steep uphill path with a gradient of over 15%, making accessibility difficult for the elderly, disabled, and others with walking difficulties, often causing tourists to give up midway.
Once completed, a barrier-free walkway gently connecting Camp Greaves from the upper gondola station will be created, allowing everyone to enjoy travel safely and conveniently.
The Gondola Skywalk is scheduled to begin basic and detailed design in 2025 and be completed in 2026.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, "By installing the Gondola Skywalk, we expect to create a barrier-free tourism environment that anyone can safely and conveniently enjoy, which will not only revitalize the Imjingak Peace Gondola, a representative DMZ tourism product, but also greatly benefit the Paju local economy."
