Since September, the Office of Education has evaluated the appropriateness and necessity of the project operation in various ways and selected 43 public and private ‘Safe and Secure Kindergartens’ in the province, supporting their stable operation.

The ‘Safe and Secure Kindergarten’ focuses on creating an environment where young children can be safe. Each kindergarten receives budget support secured through the active cooperation of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council and is working on improving safety in various areas such as commuting to and from kindergarten, health and hygiene, fire safety, meals and snacks, and disaster preparedness.

The Office of Education expects this project to be an important opportunity not only for environmental improvement but also for the qualitative enhancement of early childhood education. Based on the results of the project, they plan to expand the child safety enhancement project to increase the satisfaction of the educational community.

Jang Hyun-woo, Director of Early Childhood Education at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, “A safe environment for young children is a very important value that we must protect,” adding, “We will strive to ensure that all kindergartens in the province can have a safer and more pleasant environment based on this project.”
