Public-Private Joint 'Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' Fundraising... Sharing Warmth Until February 14 Next Year
34 Residents Including Professional Group Leaders Appointed as Campaign Ambassadors, Donations and Sponsorships from Individuals, Companies, and Organizations
Last Year's Funds Used for 37 Projects Including Somang Baedalbu, Chondere Bapsang, and Support for Emergency Crisis Families and Vulnerable Groups
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) residents Kim Soon-ja, Park Young-soon, and Lim Soon-geum, who live in Euncheon-dong, cleaned the neighborhood and donated a total of 2.5 million won, including the proceeds from selling collected waste paper.
Despite the economic downturn, to convey the warm hearts of residents sharing love with their neighbors, the district held the “Love Temperature Tower and Donation Box Installation Ceremony” on the 19th at the Gwanak-gu Office plaza, marking the start of the “2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.”
“Hope Ondol Warm Winter” is a public-private cooperative fundraising campaign hosted by the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest and sponsored by Gwanak-gu. The Love Temperature Tower rises by 1 degree each time 1% of this year’s target amount of 1.8 billion won, which is 18 million won, is raised.
The district conducts the campaign for about three months every year from November to February of the following year, joining forces with local residents to help neighbors in need have a warm winter.
First, to widely promote this campaign and spread the culture of sharing, the district appointed 34 residents, including heads of local professional organizations, as ambassadors.
Following this, the Love Sharing Sponsorship Association, Vitamin Scholarship Foundation, individual donors, Seoul New Gwanak Lions Club, and Welfare Sponsorship Association contributed donations and goods to extend warm support to neighbors in need.
Gwanak-gu officials, district council members, and residents attending the event also participated in the relay donation of love funds, raising the Love Temperature.
Last year, the district raised a total of about 2.24 billion won in donations and goods, supporting social welfare facilities and 25 organizations in the area. The funds were used for 37 projects including “Hope Delivery,” which supports the dreams of children and youth, and “Chondele Bapsang,” which supports food care for vulnerable groups and rural-urban coexistence, as well as for emergency living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and education expenses for families in crisis and vulnerable groups.
Residents, companies, and organizations wishing to participate in the Hope Ondol Warm Winter project can inquire at the Gwanak-gu Office Welfare Policy Division or the local community service center.
When donating, deposit the funds into the Gwanak-gu reception account (Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest branch) and submit a cash donation receipt to the Gwanak-gu Office Welfare Policy Division or the local community service center.
District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I am even more grateful for the warm hearts shared with neighbors in need despite the prolonged economic recession,” and added, “I hope that all local residents, companies, and organizations will work together to raise Gwanak-gu’s Love Temperature and create a warm welfare community in Gwanak.”
