Plans to Investigate Responsibility Regarding Husband Also Announced
A woman in her 40s who killed her 7-month-old twin daughters and surrendered to the police, citing difficulties in childcare, has been detained.
On the 20th, Jang Doo-young, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Suncheon branch of the Gwangju District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Ms. A on suspicion of murder, citing concerns that she might flee.
Ms. A is accused of suffocating her 7-month-old twin daughters at her home in Ungcheon-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, around 8:30 a.m. on the 18th. The crime was committed while her husband was at work. About four hours after the incident, Ms. A called the police and surrendered. According to the police, Ms. A stated that she had a history of treatment for depression. It is also known that she was solely responsible for childcare and could not endure the stress associated with it.
There were no signs of trauma or abuse found on the deceased infants. The police plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy. They also intend to investigate the precise motive and circumstances of the crime with the detained Ms. A. Additionally, they plan to examine the responsibility of the husband in this matter.
